Apple CEO Tim Cook Donating $1M To ADL After Charlottesville

Apple CEO Tim Cook is putting his money where his mouth is on diversity and acceptance, announcing that he will give $1 million each to the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center following the weekend violence in Charlottesville.

In a letter to workers, Cook announced the donations and encouraged his colleagues to also open their wallets, promising that Apple would match two-to-one gifts to the organizations through September. he added that Apple would soon make it possible to donate to the Southern Poverty Law Center via the iTunes application.

Cook also took a swipe at President Trump for his remarks on Charlottesville, writing in the letter: “I disagree with the president and others who believe that there is a moral equivalence between white supremacists and Nazis, and those who oppose them by standing up for human rights. Equating the two runs counter to our ideals as Americans.”
