Greenfield Taps Protege For Council Seat After Taking Met Council Post
New York City Councilman David Greenfield’s longtime adviser Kalman Yeger will inherit Greenfield’s ballot line in upcoming elections, Jewish Insider’s Jacob Kornbluh reported Tuesday.
The move all but ensures that Yeger will win Greenfield’s seat. Greenfield is leaving the council to run the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty. Because of the timing of his announcement, no one else has registered to run against him, and now the clock has run out.
Greenfield’s appointment was announced before it had received approval from city and state monitors.
The New York Daily News took Greenfield to task on its editorial page over reports that he would attempt the maneuver.
