California College Trustees Kill Student Pro-BDS Resolution
The Board of Trustees of Pitzer College, one of the Claremont Colleges in California, recently struck down a pro-BDS budget provision passed by the student government in April.
The provision, which passed by a 20-0 vote with 4 abstentions, banned cooperation with “corporations and organizations associated with the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories,”
The trustees told the students in an email that “the Board will not permit College assets to be restricted in order to endorse a point of view that is not the College’s and that, in the Board’s opinion, does not align with Pitzer’s commitment to inclusion and respect for diverse viewpoints.”
