Republicans Attack Jon Ossoff On Iran Nuclear Deal
With three weeks left to Georgia’s 6th district special elections, Republicans are focusing their attacks on Democrat Jon Ossoff’s foreign policy views.
New TV ads produced by the National Republican Congressional Committee, take issue with Ossoff’s support for resettling Syrian refugees in the U.S. and with his support for the Iranian nuclear deal. “Ossoff supports the dangerous Iran nuclear deal,” the ad states, arguing that the agreement provides billions to the Islamic Republic which are used to sponsor terrorism. “Jon Ossoff is just too risky,” the ad concludes.
Republicans have tried in the 2016 election cycle to take on vulnerable Democrats who had supported the Iranian nuclear deal, but while the move brought in generous funding from pro-Israel donors, it showed little success in changing results in the ballots.
Ossoff will face Republican Karen Handler in Georgia’s June 20 runoff elections, which will be the Democrats’ last chance to flip a congressional seat before the 2018 midterm elections.
