Russian Embassy In UK Can’t Let Seth Rich Story Go
Conspiracy theories surrounding the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich are now being amplified by Russian officials.
The Russian embassy in London tweeted on Friday a claim that Rich was behind the leak of DNC emails to Wikileaks. “WikiLeaks informer Seth Rich murdered in US but MSM was so busy accusing Russian hackers to take notice,” the tweet read, referring to American mainstream media in the acronym MSM.
The claim that Rich was in contact with Wikileaks before his death was published by Fox News earlier this week and was quickly debunked by his parents, FBI sources and even by the private investigator who initially came up with the allegation.
If true, contacts between Rich and Wikileaks could have disproved claims that Russia was behind the hacking of DNC emails and passing the information onto Wikileaks for publication, in order to harm Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
According to Mashable the Russian U.K. embassy social media team is known for its online trolling and in the past tweeted the Alt-Right Pepe the Frog cartoon to attack critics of thawing U.S.-Russian relations.
