WOW Air Announces $149 Flights To Israel
The Icelandic low-cost airline WOW Air announced Monday that it will soon be offering flights from the United States to Israel for as low as $149.
The budget carrier will fly between Ben-Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv and multiple locations in North America beginning September 12, WOW CEO Skuli Mogensen said in Israel. One-way tickets will cost $149 from New York, Chicago, Boston, Toronto and Montreal, and $199 from Los Angeles and San Francisco. The flights will have layovers in Iceland, Mogensen said, where flights to and from Israel will cost $99.
“Our mission is to enable everyone to fly by offering the cheapest prices in Tel Aviv,” Mogensen said. “No one has ever offered such cheap prices to North America, and we’re proud to bring competition to Israel. I hope it enables people to visit here, and that it will help Israelis to travel.”
Of course, the face value of the ticket will not cover the airline’s many fees, including for picking a seat, carrying on a large bag, and being served a meal. So if you really want to save cash, make sure to travel light and eat a big lunch before your transatlantic flight.
