NBA All-Star Ray Allen Visits Auschwitz

Shortly after being sworn in as a board member of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, former NBA champion Ray Allen traveled to Poland this week visit the Auschwitz concentration camp and other Holocaust-related sites.
Allen, one of the greatest shooters in basketball history, became passionate about Holocaust education after visiting the Holocaust Museum in Washington for the first time in 1998. Since then, he made sure that he and his teammates visited the museum whenever they were in Washington.
The ten-time All-Star documented his journey in Poland on his Instagram page. “I’ve had the opportunity to travel to many places in my life but this trip I’m about to take is one that I have looked forward to taking for a long time!!!” he wrote as a caption to one photo.
In addition to Auschwitz, Allen also visited the area of the former Warsaw Ghetto and spoke with students from Baltimore’s Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School, who were on a senior class trip to Poland and Israel.
