FBI Director Says Huma Abedin Forwarded Clinton Emails To Weiner

FBI director James Comey told Congress on Wednesday that Hillary Clinton e-mails ended up on a computer that Anthony Weiner used partly because his estranged wife Huma Abedin forwarded the correspondence to him.

“Somehow, her emails were being forwarded to Anthony Weiner, including classified information,” he said at the Senate panel, where he was called to testify about his investigation into emails from Clinton’s private email server.

He reopened that inquiry days before the November election after new Clinton emails were found on Weiner’s laptop, which was seized as part of the FBI’s probe of allegations that the disgraced former congressman sexted with an underage girl in North Carolina.

Ultimately, nothing incriminating was found from the new emails, but the announcement was seen by Clinton and others as having damaged her in the week before the vote. Comey defended his agency’s behavior and said that he did not intend to influence the electoral process.

“It makes me mildly nauseous to think we might have had some impact on the election,” he said.
