Schumer To Trump: ‘You’re A 98-Pound Weakling On China’
In remarks reported today by Politico, Senator Chuck Schumer charged that President Donald Trump is a “98-pound weakling” on China.
The comments, made at a press conference with fellow Democratic senators, come days before a scheduled meeting between Trump and Chinese president Xi Jinping.
“One of the few hopes we had with President Trump is that he’d finally stand up to China,” Schumer said. “But up to now, when it comes to China, he looks like a 98-pound weakling.”
Schumer charged that, despite Trump’s bellicose campaign-era rhetoric, he has failed to take on China’s trade practices.
“He has done virtually nothing” on China, Schumer said.. “We haven’t seen him do anything, anything against the number one trade predator against the United States, China.”
