Banner Image On Neo-Nazi Website Highlights Jewish Nationalism
The banner image on the country’s “top hate site” now features the image of a Jewish man in prayer. Accompanying text reads: “Nationalism for all peoples.”
Andrew Anglin’s the Daily Stormer regularly updates the leading image of his anti-Semitic and anti-black website, playing with racist and Nazi imagery.
The Jewish man appears to be in an Israeli army uniform and is using tefillin, the black boxes and leather straps observant Jews may wear while praying. Other figures in the banner image, which could be an April Fools-inspired prank, include George Washington and Winston Churchill. The text is written in pink and accompanied by a cartoonish heart.
The Daily Stormer is known for his elaborate online trolling campaigns and Anglin is seen by fans as a neo-Nazi humorist of sorts.
Every few weeks, he changes the banner image on his website. For example, one previous banner showed an image of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe giving a Nazi salute and J. K. Rowling dressed as a Nazi officer. The tagline read, “The World’s #1 J.K. Rowling Fansite.” Rowling had previously feuded with the “alt-right” online and Radcliffe played a neo-Nazi in a 2016 film. Radcliffe also happens to have a Jewish background.
