Swastika Scrawled At Middle School Bathroom In Clintons’ Town Of Chappaqua
Students at Seven Bridges Middle School in Chappaqua, New York are in for a lesson about anti-Semitism after a swastika was found scrawled on a bathroom in the upscale suburb that is famously home to Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Discovered Sunday morning, the swastika was probably the work of some “young, stupid kid who doesn’t realize what that symbol stands for,” the town supervisor Robert Greenstein told CBS New York. He said he was calling on school officials and leaders to convene in order to better educate students about bias and acceptance.
“We’re trying to, you know, be as inclusive and welcoming as possible, so if this gives us the opportunity to reinforce those messages, you know, I think we should take advantage of it and do it,” Greenstein told the news station.
Concerns about anti-Semitism have spiked since the November election, after which a rash of vandalism, harassment and bomb threats against Jews and their institutions broke out. In addition to the Clintons, Chappaqua is home to many suburban Jewish families, adding to the sting of the vandalism.
