Mark Cuban Pokes Trump On Twitter Over ‘Exploding’ Student Loan Crisis

Mark Cuban is at it again, put his finger in the eye of President Trump, by taunting him about Americans’ student debt on Twitter.

Cuban’s Tweet comes as educators and administrators at colleges and universities fret over the White House’s budget proposal, which would slash aid for work study and cut funding for the National Institutes of Health, main funders of science research at the graduate level. The administration has not been forthcoming on proposals to make higher education less financially burdensome and more accessible, but the Department of Education has started to ease Obama-era rules on for-profit colleges – widely seen as bilking the federal student loan system while often not delivering on promises to their students.

Cuban, a venture capitalist and owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, has eagerly been a thorn in Trump’s since the campaign, when he taunted the president about the size of his wealth and business success. When it comes to education policy, Cuban has a thin resume. But he values the somewhat-maligned liberal arts, saying at the South by Southwest conference in Texas recently, “Knowing how to critically think… I think is going to be more valuable than what we see as exciting careers today, which might be programming or CPA or those types of things.”
