Netanyahu Sings Trump’s Praises At AIPAC — Opposition Leader Sounds Hope For Peace

Israeli prime minister, in the midst of a coalition crisis at home, chose to address the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual policy conference by satellite from Jerusalem, delivering a brief address stressing the strength of relations with the U.S.
Netanyahu thanked President Trump for his support for Israel and praised United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, who is scheduled to address the conference later Monday.
Netanyahu, like Vice President Mike Pence on Sunday, refrained from getting into any details regarding the future of Israeli settlement activity and of the Israeli – Palestinian peace process, stating only that “My hand is extended to all our neighbors in peace.”
Netanyahu’s main political rival, Isaac Herzog, leader of the Zionist Union, spoke after Netanyahu and sounded a surprising optimistic tone regarding the chances of advancing Middle East peace under Trump.
“After meeting with Jonathan Greeblatt,” Herzog said of his meeting with Trump’s envoy, “I’m impressed that President Trump is heavily committed to achieving peace between Israel and the Arabs.”
