Ivanka Ignites Instagram With Purim Picture
Not since Hillary Clinton’s infamous cookie-making comment on “60 Minutes” in 1992 (“I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies…”) has the act of baking been so politicized — until now.
This weekend, Ivanka Trump posted an image of herself on Instagram in which she’s seen making hamantaschen with two of her children. The Times of Israel quickly posted an article — a straightforward report except for one detail: Above the headline (“For Purim, Ivanka Bakes Hamantaschen With Her Kids”) is a clever-if-pointed header that reads “Cookie Momster.”
Trump’s post has garnered over 180,000 likes, and over 2,800 comments that range from the benign (“Happy Purim Ivanka!”; “Beautiful”; “Cute”; “How did they turn out?”) to the profoundly political.
There are also poignant posts that appeal to the first daughter to try to affect positive change: “Dear ms ivanka trump Midle [sic] east has pain, please try for peace” and “you live a charmed life, and so do your kids, please consider their right to a clean earth, the EPA is a positive, it protects Everything that is vital to humanity.
