Oracle Gets Sued for Paying White Men More

Safra Catz

The software giant Oracle, where Donald Trump appointee Safra Catz is CEO, is getting hit with a discrimination lawsuit by the Department of Labor.

According to BuzzFeed, the DOL claims Oracle paid women, African-Americans and Asian workers less than they paid white men for the same jobs.

In the official complaint, the DOL claims Oracle also discriminated in hiring, favoring Asian Indian applicants over qualified white, Hispanic and African-American candidates.

Oracle employs 45,000 people in the U.S. The company has denied the allegations and says they are “politically motivated, based on false allegations, and wholly without merit.”

The DOL says Oracle refused to produce data on compensation or hiring that would support their claim.

When the Israeli-born Catz joined the President-elect’s transition team in December, she said that if Trump “can reform the tax code, reduce regulation and negotiate better trade deals, the U.S. technology industry will be stronger and more competitive than ever.”
