July 28: Brooklyn: The Heart, Art and Food Of ‘Shtisel’
Calling all fans of “Shtisel”: Join Yiddish Forward Editor Rukhl Schaechter in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn as she leads a discussion called “How ‘Shtisel’ Has Changed the Way We Look at Haredi Jews.”
“The Heart, Art and Food of Shtisel” will take place Sunday, July 28 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Besht Center (563 Empire Boulevard). It will also be an opportunity to schmooze with fellow fans of Shtisel, a binge-worthy show available on Netflix that centers around an Orthodox family in Jerusalem, and view Jewish and Israeli art. Kosher dairy snacks and desserts will be served.

At a time when other newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall and invested additional resources to report on the ground from Israel and around the U.S. on the impact of the war, rising antisemitism and polarized discourse.
