Political Cartoonist Lambasted For Portrayal of His Bubbe
The Backward is the Forward’s annual satirical Purim edition. Enjoy!
Backward cartoonist Tal Elijah is again under fire, this time for depicting his bubbe as a naked, scale-covered fire-breathing whore of Babylon, graphically copulating with the Antichrist while the Earth is engulfed in flames. “It’s satire, obviously,” said Backward editor Ian Fist. The rabbis of New York’s Congregation B’nai Yeshurun (known as BY), previously satirized by the cartoonist, could not be reached for comment as they were, according to Elijah, dancing on a defaced Torah scroll while drinking the blood of Christian babies. “I don’t see what people are so upset about,” said Fist.
